For the Cardboard Boat Challenge, we were split up into 4 teams, and each team had to build a cardboard boat big enough for one person to sit in. We could build the cardboard boats out of only whatever cardboard and ductape we could find. My team was formed of 4 people (myself included). We first brainstormed about what might hinder or be a problem when building a cardboard boat, and once we built it, what might prevent it from staying afloat. Once this was completed we set to work on a paper model of what our boat might look like. We ended up with 5-10 different possible designs for our boat. After, we picked the most likely design to be successful we built a prototype. Once we built a working prototype we made a list estimating, how much cardboard and ductape we'd need. We'd gathered our resourses and set to work on building. After a week of building it was time for our finished boat to be put to the test. We went down to the pool and started preparing for the challengs.
For the first challenge, we had to race in our boats, down to the end of the pool then back to ther side- as many times as we could before Mr. Olsen said the challenge was over.
